What is the FOMC meeting?
The Federal Open Market Committee sets the policy rate of the United States, the target range for the federal funds rate. It meets eight times a year. The decision and the statement are released at 2:00 pm Eastern Time, and the Chair's press conference follows at 2:30 pm. In UTC that is 18:00 and 18:30 during US daylight saving time, and 19:00 and 19:30 in winter.
Four meetings a year, in March, June, September and December, also bring the Summary of Economic Projections with the dot plot. The minutes of each meeting follow three weeks after the decision.
